lol it goes with everything!  Here’s what i’m talking bout…this bright yellow graphic embellished skirt by Christopher Kane.  In this post, I’m sharing four easy options to wear with that one tricky piece you love, but don’t know how to wear.

Let’s be real, I’m a stylist…I knew this skirt was an easy fit in my wardrobe lol and was looking at it to level up a few oldies but goodies too. So sharing some styling inspo in case you have that one-off piece you think doesn’t go w anything.

Hey hey! It goes w everything!  Here are four simple options I think are easy finds in any wardrobe and really goes with pretty much anything!

4 Simple Options for that One Tricky Piece

  • a black button up
  • a grey tee
  • a denim shirt
  • a blk & white check shirt

Seems to easy to be true?   Well, let’s get styling.

First up, the easy Black Button Up

Here’s a simple rule to keep in mind…pairing that one item with something black is always a safe bet.  Even when that one tricky piece doesn’t’ have a stitch of black in it.  Trust me, it works.  Black isn’t THE color for nothing.  Instant outfit, instant chic.  Full stop.

I usually pick up my button ups via the mens dept and there are so many out there via resale (no need to buy new!!).  I like this one for the straight edge hem & this designer one too for the straight up quality.

how to wear
black banded collar button up, Uniqlo (mens); multi colored bucket hat, San Diego Hat Co ; flip flops, Havaianas

I love a Grey Tee

Real talk.  I will reach for a grey tee over a simple white tee.  A grey tee is more interesting to the eye (especially with this palette of bright yellow gold & black embellishment).  This grey tee is by Rag & Bone and also like (and own :)) ) this one (cause Comme des Garçon), this one (cause why not in long sleeve too) & this designer resale.

Don’t we all have a Denim Shirt?

For real, don’t we all?  And if you don’t, I’m sure the S.O has one you can borrow!  The denim shirt is just like the black shirt for me…goes with everything, but the denim shirt is the down casual version.

This one I picked up at Cross Roads (mens section).  I like the different denim on the sleeves & collar.  I do a lot of resale, there’s so much out there nowadays, and it’s all one-of-a-kinds!  Plus, I cannot help but think of our poor planet :((.  This one has cute pocket details by a Japanese designer and like this one too for the pocket details.

Does a Black & White Check really go?

Hello!  YES!  Plus is far more interesting than a straight up black tee.  Check below, don’t you agree?  Styling tip >> treat your blk & wht check like a black tee and you’ll find it far easier to pair with everything.

I’ve had this Steven Alan camp shirt for many many many moons now…lol hand-me-down from my son when he out grew it.  I will never part with it!!  Wow found this Columbia check shirt for very little 🤑 and this fun paint splattered Ralph shirt (I know, it’s not check but still a fun one to try!)
